Join SafelyYou to Shine a Light Alzheimer’s Awareness

With 50 million people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias across the globe, it’s vital to raise awareness and join the fight to end Alzheimer’s. That’s why the Alzheimer’s Association is designating June as Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month and June 20 as The Longest Day. During the summer solstice, the day with the most light, people from across the world will fight the darkness of Alzheimer’s through a fundraising activity of their choice.

The more people know about Alzheimer’s: the more action we inspire. SafelyYou is helping to spread the word by sharing Alzheimer’s statistics and stories on our social media channels throughout the month of June. And it doesn’t stop there. We’re going to donate $5 for each new follow/like and, if you share or retweet our special posts, we’ll donate $5 more!

In addition, we really want to shine the light on The Longest Day, June 20, and are encouraging people to share photos of themselves wearing purple, the official color of the Alzheimer’s movement. (That’s SafelyYou CEO, George Netscher in the photo above!) Of course, it is a little more effort, but we’ll increase our donation, so it is definitely worth the cause. Simply take a photo of yourself wearing purple (shirt, jacket, hat, t-shirt, etc.) and, if you don’t want to post a photo, consider a photo of your hand painted with purple nail polish — you get the idea; have some fun with it!
