Meet Joann Vukovic, a Wellness Nurse at Maplewood at Newtown in Newtown, Connecticut and July’s Care Champion Hero! Joann has only been in her role for a few months, but is already having a big impact on her community. According to her nominator, Resident Services Director Sian Denton, “Joann is our primary overnight nurse which would normally mean she doesn’t know many of the residents since she is working while they are sleeping. However, we have a large number of residents who know her by hearing good things about her from other residents.” Joann is known for always treating residents with kindness and respect, responding quickly to calls, and explaining what she is going to do and why to each resident. Sian adds, “She maintains the resident’s dignity and privacy at all times.” We’re honored to have Joann as a Care Champion Hero.
