Meet our August Care Champion Hero, Thomas Nikolic-Dorschel, Resident Services Supervisor, LPN at Arden Courts Largo.

When Tom walks into a room after a fall, residents visibly relax. His calm presence, patient communication, and genuine concern for emotional well-being are as central to his care as any clinical response.

That resident-centered instinct shows up in the small moments. A nurse covering his shift once went to administer medications to one of his residents, only to be told, “That’s not how Tom does it.” Tom always brings her a cookie and a glass of orange juice.

After a short-term respite stay, a resident’s family reached out unprompted — their loved one hadn’t stopped talking about the nurse who cared for her on the night shifts. That’s the kind of impression Tom leaves.

His nominator, Executive Director Dea Cruz, says Tom brings “tremendous love, empathy, and compassion” to every post-fall interaction. Congratulations, Tom! This one is well-earned.
